Get to know Dr. Tatyana Metelitsina

Prior to relocating to the United States, Dr. Metelitsina graduated with honors from the Odessa State Medical University in Odessa, Ukraine, and subsequently completed an ophthalmology residency at the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy.

In 2000, Dr. Metelitsina moved to the United States to pursue additional ophthalmic training. She studied The State of Choroidal Blood Flow in AMD (age-related macular degeneration) as a postdoctoral fellow / senior research investigator at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

She authored and coauthored numerous research articles in professional journals and presented her work at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and other ophthalmologic conferences. After conducting her second ophthalmology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, Dr. Metelitsina pursued a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Retina Consultants, Ltd. in the Chicago area. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

Dr. Metelitsina sees patients in our Cape Girardeau, MO, and Carbondale, IL locations.  She is typically available for appointments at our Cape Girardeau location on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday and is at our Carbondale location every Monday. She performs surgery at St. Francis Medical Center.
