Did You Know?
With 4,000,000 surgeries in the US performed each year, cataract surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures.
A cataract is when the normally clear lens of the eye develops proteins that cause it to become cloudy and hard to see through. Over time, the protein ages and calcifies, making the lens thick and cloudy. This change in the lens can cause colors to fade, double or blurry vision, trouble seeing at night or in low light, seeing halos around lights, or being sensitive to light. You may also need frequent adjustments to your eyeglasses prescription.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you can make an appointment with one of our Cataract Surgeons who will perform a comprehensive eye exam and let you know if you have cataracts.
When you replace the cloudy lens with an intraocular lens implant (IOL) through cataract surgery, your surgeon chooses the lens based on your prescription. This customized lens lessens your dependence on glasses, helping you enjoy vision you may not have had in years! Some advanced lens options improve your distance and reading vision.
