Get to know Dr. David Kim
David Kim, MD, FACS, originally born in Taegu, South Korea, pursued his career as a physician of ophthalmology in the United States. After obtaining his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill., Dr. Kim went to Loyola Stritch School of Medicine to earn his medical degree. He served as Chief Resident while completing his Internship at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. before pursuing a Glaucoma Fellowship from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
After many years of practicing in Wisconsin as a general ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, in 2020 Dr. Kim sought warmer weather and found a home at Eye Care Specialists, LLC. fulfilling a much needed role as a glaucoma specialist in the southeast Missouri and southern Illinois area. Dr. Kim performs glaucoma surgery using the most advanced drainage stents and cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants providing his patients with their best possible vision.
Dr. David Kim sees patients at our Cape Girardeau Mount Auburn and Doctors’ Park locations as well as Poplar Bluff, and Carbondale and Marion, Ill.
In his leisure time, Dr. David Kim and his wife Renee enjoy the warmer southeast Missouri weather for activities such as golfing, cycling, kayaking, and fishing and participating in community events.
